What is a Community Garden?
🌿
Community gardens are all about sharing the work, the harvest, and the joy of growing plants, flowers, fruit & vegetables together. They strengthen social connections, support local economies, care for the environment, and help communities thrive. Cared for by groups of people, community gardens can be found in rural or urban areas, in schools, institutions, or neighbourhoods. They grow everything from fresh fruit and vegetables to colourful flowers, on both public and private land, and are now flourishing in communities around the world. 🌼

About Us
🌿
Westport Community Garden has been growing hearts, friendships, and fresh produce since 2009. One of our proudest milestones came in 2017, when we secured funding for a polytunnel. It produced its very first crop in 2018 and has since become a much loved part of the garden. We’re lucky to have a welcoming, enthusiastic group where ideas are shared, new projects are encouraged, and everyone can enjoy a good chat along the way. Our lovely new workshop gives us the perfect spot to relax, enjoy a cuppa, and take shelter when the weather turns Irish! The garden is full of life with vegetables, fruit trees, flowers, and plenty of plans for the future. We’re always growing and dreaming big, with hopes of developing a nature reserve in time. New faces are always welcome, whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just curious to give it a try. We meet: Tuesday and Thursday from 10.00am to 1.00pm Come along and see what’s growing!
